Home bleaching: where plastic mouth trays are made to precisely fit your teeth and you apply the bleaching gel to these trays at home.
You will need to wear the mouth trays for at least a few hours each day, preferably over night. It may take up to a few weeks or more to achieve the lightening you require.
In surgery (eg BriteSmile): The bleaching gel is placed on to your teeth and a special blue light is used - this light enhances the whitening process giving immediate results. The appointment may take between 1 to 2 hours.
Combined bleaching – this may also be known as ‘power bleaching’ – both the home and in-surgery bleaching are used in combination (eg Enlighten) to obtain a desired result. The home bleaching stage may occur before or after in-surgery treatment - this depends on the type of product used.
